Redmond, WA, February 3, 2010 – Zetron, a leading manufacturer of mission-critical communication systems for public safety, transportation, business and industry, recently donated over $18,000 to the Haitian relief efforts of international humanitarian agency, Doctors Without Borders. The donations came from among the approximately 200 employees at the company’s office in Redmond, Washington. Donations also included matching funds from the company and its president and CEO, Ellen O’Hara. The effort has just been extended to include Zetron’s offices in Australia and the U.K.

“This was an employee-initiated effort,” says Zetron human resource director, Catherine Hansen. “Immediately after the earthquake, several Zetron employees approached us asking how we might respond as a company. So we set up a collection program, and in a matter of days, had collected over $6,000 for Doctors Without Borders.”

Doctors Without Borders is working in more than 60 countries to assist people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe. The organization’s efforts in Haiti include providing medical services in hospitals and clinics, as well as providing basic supplies, such as shelter, plastic sheeting, cooking utensils, and blankets, as circumstances in Haiti evolve.

“The response of our employees to the catastrophe in Haiti has been swift, compassionate and impressive,” says O’Hara. “I’m proud to have been able to participate in their response to this tragic situation.”
